Loma staff visit a one-day "personal development" event in Birmingham, UK

The IWN Personal Development Event

Few weeks ago, I was delighted to attend the ITW Women’s Network (IWN) one-day ‘Personal Development’ event in Birmingham. It was an excellent opportunity to share experiences with like minded individuals and to learn how we can best maximise opportunities within ITW. The seminar, which kicked off with a dinner the night before, was attended by some 55 delegates, 38 of which were from the UK.

The IWN is an employee resource group (ERG) established with a mission to maintain an inclusive workplace environment and attract, develop and retain quality female talent and leaders, in accordance with the Enterprise Strategy.
I find the IWN events to be an excellent informal networking opportunity where we can learn about the diverse range of roles across the Group in a relaxed environment and have direct access to senior management. Plus it is always interesting to hear how colleagues achieve a satisfactory work life balance.

Speakers at the event and presentation topics included:

• Andrew Mines / Group President of European Construction Products - introduction and diversity

• Robert (Bob) Dutzi / Group President within ITW’s Test and Measurement / Electronics Division - enterprise strategy

• Rachel Greasby / Strategic Marketing Director -“My journey”

• Augusto Rizzolo / Vice President / General Manager North America Service Division at ITW HOBART/ Food Equipment Group-“My journey”

• Mark Feist/ Vice President / General Manager at ITW -“My Journey”

• Susanne Jacobs MBA / Chartered FCIPD, FCMI, Member NLI – unconscious bias

• Mary Kate Phillips / Group President of FEG Global Retail Platform – closing of the event

As a Loma Systems employee it was exciting to meet all these interesting women representing different divisions of ITW. Although the subject was very broad, it was a great workshop, and well attended with excellent speakers and an engaged audience.

A special ‘bravo’ for Susanne Jacobs! Suzanne is a superb presenter who was able to engage and entertain during her session. Plus it was intriguing and educational to share the journeys of Rachel Greasby, Andrew Mines, Robert (Bob) Dutzi, Luiz Augusto Rizzolo, Mark Feist ,and Mary Kate Phillips.

Finally, thank you to Lance Read from Avery Weigh who hosted the event in their premises.
