LOMA History

Loma is proud to celebrate 50 years of Check & Detect excellence. Back in 1969, Newell Dunford sold their metal detection business to focus on the company’s main activities. When Dennis Pascoe found himself faced with a decision, he joined forces with Geoff Mayo, Principal Lecturer in Electronic Engineering to purchase the business unit.

The pair worked out of Pascoe’s garage until they rented a 400 sq ft workshop for electronic assembly. In 1972, the company moved into a new 4,000 sq ft factory in the U.K. to bring design and manufacturing together at one location.

From these humble beginnings, Loma Engineering endured the uncertainties of global economics, expanded into new markets across the globe and transformed the business to encompass a full spectrum of Metal Detection, Checkweighing and X-ray systems.

With operations all over the world, we’re always close to your business.
