LOMA SYSTEMS® TO PRESENT METAL DETECTION, X-RAY AND CHECKWEIGHING SOLUTIONS AT PACK EXPO EAST 2026

22 Jan 2026

Loma Systems, a service-led manufacturer of inspection solutions for the food and pharmaceutical industries, will exhibit at PACK EXPO East 2026, taking place from 17-19 February 2026 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. LOMA will be represented by Plant Automation Group (PAG), with live demonstrations available at Booth 1244.

Visitors to the PAG booth will have the opportunity to explore a range of LOMA’s advanced inspection technologies, including metal detection, X-ray inspection and checkweighing systems, designed to help manufacturers enhance product safety, quality assurance and operational efficiency.

Among the highlights on display will be the IQ4M Flex metal detector, featuring LOMA’s patented Variable Frequency and Multi-Spectrum contaminant detection technology, alongside DDS+ for maximum detection performance. The IQ4M is particularly suitable for products with temperature fluctuations and high reactivity, with typical applications including meat products, frozen products, and baked goods. Additionally, the system incorporates RFID-enabled user login and OPC-UA connectivity for improved data exchange, which can be configured to suit a wide range of production line layouts and reject requirements.

Also on display will be LOMA’s newly upgraded RUN-WET CW3 Checkweigher, engineered specifically for demanding wet and washdown environments such as ready meals, packaged soups, and meat, seafood and protein processing. The system incorporates an enhanced hygienic design with open, angular frames, rigidized stainless steel conveyor beds and a round, solid nose bar to ensure smooth product transfer and extended belt life. In addition to the standalone checkweigher, LOMA also offers a newly upgraded RUN-WET metal detection and checkweighing combination solution that provides integrated inspection for wet applications. However, this combined system will not be showcased at the event.

X-ray inspection will be showcased by the X5C Compact X-ray system, which will be integrated into PAG’s demo assembly line and paired with a reject conveyor. The X5C is suitable for a wide range of applications, including ready-meal products and snack products and is ideal for retail and small pack formats, particularly those using metallized films or foil trays. With a compact footprint similar to that of a traditional metal detector, the X5C is an ideal upgrade solution for manufacturers moving from metal detection to X-ray inspection. This makes it particularly well suited to production lines with limited space, where accommodating a larger X-ray system is not feasible, while still offering a low cost of ownership and advanced inspection capability.

Additional equipment on display will include the IQ4 Waferthin metal detector and IQ4 Vertical Fall metal detector, both designed for applications requiring accurate contaminant detection in space-restricted environments. The IQ4 Waferthin metal detector is typically installed near the beginning of the processing line, helping to protect upstream equipment such as grinders and other processing machinery from damage caused by metal contaminants. By detecting contamination early in the process, manufacturers can reduce the risk of unnecessary product waste, avoiding losses associated not only with raw materials and ingredients, but also with additional costs incurred when contaminated products reach later stages of production, including packaging materials.

Commenting on the show, Louis Chatel, said: “We’re excited to collaborate with Plant Automation Group to present our IQ4M Flex metal detector at PACK EXPO East, as well as our newly upgraded RUN-WET Checkweigher - be sure to visit us and experience the upgrades on that checkweigher firsthand.”

Throughout the event, PAG and LOMA inspection experts will be available to meet customers and prospects, offering insights into how LOMA’s inspection solutions can support compliance, improve product integrity and drive manufacturing efficiency.

Attendees can register for a free pass using guest pass code 70R80.
