Following the success of their cutting edge
variable frequency metal detector, the IQ3, Loma are proud to be launching
the latest addition to the range - the IQ3+. The IQ3+ has all the features of the IQ3 but with the addition of an easy to use, icon driven, intuitive full colour graphical touch screen; making it even simpler for operators to use and achieve maximum functionality from the machine. The IQ3+ technology is report and data capture ready, meaning HACCP and retailer compliance is made simple, and on-board Ethernet and a USB port enable remote data collection. |
|||||
|
The addition of the IQ3+ technology to the IQ3 means that the machine
is now available in multiple languages. Context sensitive help windows
increase the operator's ability to use the machine autonomously, whilst
security and user ID options allow manufacturers to set varying levels
of access to settings and functions for their operators. By running the product to be inspected through the machine, the IQ3+ technology has the unique ability to auto select the correct operating frequency in seconds, making it ideal for the food and packaging industries as major changes in product and packaging no longer require the expense and inconvenience of engineer set up and production downtime is minimised. Selecting the correct operating frequency is key to optimising detection of the grades of stainless steel used in these industries. |

||||
|
Designed to survive even the harshest of manufacturing
environments, the IQ3+ meets with IP69K high temperature, high pressure
wash-down environmental protection standards. The IQ3+ is a leader in its field, offering increased immunity over other metal detectors from vibration, electrical interference, case distortion and thermal shock. The IQ3+ technology can be fitted to an existing Loma IQ3 and its predecessor the IQ2 machine. All metal detectors in this range can benefit from the upgrade to touch screen and enhanced features that the IQ3+ offers. |

Following the successful launch of their
X4 range of X-ray contaminant inspection systems, Loma has continued
to develop its inspection technology and have produced a new, advanced
X-weigh system that combines the best of their top quality, robust
X-ray and checkweighing technology. |
||||
|
Unlike traditional checkweighers, the X-weigh is unaffected by pack
rate, speed, vibration, air turbulence, pack orientation or stability
and requires little maintenance. Loma equipment is designed to survive
even the harshest of manufacturing environments and the X-weigh is no
exception, incorporating a heavy duty conveyor design.
The new X-weigh software complies with national weights and measures legislation and automatically calculates the correct reject set points for European and Canadian Average Weight legislation and American Minimum or MAV weight control. X-weigh supports a comprehensive reports package showing trends, give-away and batch analysis. The statistical information that the software provides can be networked via Ethernet to a central plant computer or SCADA system. | ![]() |
||||
The Loma X-weigh allows for multi-lane checkweighing, which means a number of lines can be run through the system with each pack inspected according to its own target weight parameters. X-weigh also offers combined weighing and object checking, which will ensure that packs with more than one weight zone are compliant for both overall pack weight and individual weight zones. This makes it ideal for inspecting consumer-ready products such as packs of ready meals and snack products. |

Culi d'Or, a major player in the patisserie
and dessert market in Europe with four specialised manufacturing sites
in the Netherlands, has a reputation for producing a diverse and innovative
range of products. Culi d'Or are part of the Brinkers Group, whose production
plants all have BRC Highest Level certification. Brinkers also has a
strong approach to research and development and an on-going commitment
to quality management. To uphold the very highest quality control standards, at their site in Velp, Holland, Culi d'Or needed an inspection solution for their line of baked desserts. The ideal solution came from Loma, who previously had successfully installed a number of other inspection machines on the Velp site. Loma specified their latest X-ray machine, the X4, to inspect Culi d'Or's line of baked desserts that are produced in aluminium foil. The X4 incorporates high-speed technology that maximises sensitivity to both metal and non-metallic contaminants such as stainless steel, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glass, stone, calcified bone, high-density plastics and rubber. As well as being able to inspect for a wide range of contaminants, the X4 has the ability to detect other product defects such as component count, zone mass measurement and shape conformity. For Culi d'Or's baked desserts, an X-ray machine was the best solution, due to its capacity to detect non-metallic materials and its ability to work with products and packaging materials that metal detectors find difficult, such as foil or metalised film packaging. Hans Jaspers Fayer, Production Manager at Culi d'Or, Velp, commented: "We have had a good experience working with Loma over a number of years, and we knew that we could rely on them to offer us the best solution and the best service. The X4 meets all our requirements: not only is it reliable in inspecting for contaminants, but also it is excellent in checking the shape of the product, and has a very good reject system. The X4's checkweighing function is also an added benefit for us." X-ray systems are becoming increasingly popular as the top choice of inspection system due to their ability to reliably and efficiently perform the multiple functions of separate 'traditional' inspection systems simultaneously. The X4 incorporates reject systems that can provide separate reject signals for each type of non-conformity so that contaminated and improperly packaged products can be kept separate. In addition, the X4 has advanced image processing and simple set-up routines. As with all Loma's inspection equipment, the X4 is designed to survive even the harshest of manufacturing environments, and is built to last. |
|||||
|
Hans Jaspers Fayer continues: "The machine is easy to operate, and we
have received an excellent before and after-sales service from Loma.
I would not hesitate to recommend both Loma and their customer service
to other manufacturers."
The X4 system is robust, reliable, hygienic and simple to use, offering customers a sophisticated, easy-to-operate and multi-functional inspection system. As with all Loma's products, customers benefit from Loma's high level of before and after sales service and receive a tailor made solution to their X-ray inspection requirements. |

Halo from Poland! Poland is the largest country
in Central Europe, and has a population of 38.2 million - the vast majority
of which are native to Poland. Both the import and export trade have grown over the last three years, and this trend is expected to continue. Poland joined the EU in May 2004, and since then has enjoyed increasing economic growth. The EU membership and access to EU structural funds has provided a major boost to the economy. The consumer expenditure on food for example, has nearly doubled since 2003, yet consumer price inflation - at 1.3 per cent in 2006 - remains among the lowest in the EU. Food consumption patterns in Poland have changed, resulting in decreased consumption of milk and animal fats, sugar and potatoes. On the other hand, consumption of fruit, vegetables, processed red meat, poultry, vegetable fats, fish, cheese, yoghurt, and highly processed food has significantly increased. During 2000-2004 the total value of processed food sales increased from $22.36 billion to an estimated $30 billion. According to food processing industry sources, domestic producers deliver an estimated 85 per cent of goods to the Polish market. Poland is a net exporter of processed fruit and vegetables, meat, and dairy products and so is an ideal territory for Loma to establish operations in and increase industry recognition of the Loma brand. |
|||||
|
The success of the recent Polagra exhibition, the leading international
trade fair devoted to Food Processing Technologies in Central and Eastern
Europe that was held in Poznan, Poland, cemented Loma's presence in
the region. Loma's stand was inundated with enquiries and interest during
the four-day show, highlighting the appeal that Loma's products have
in this expanding market.
As Loma continues to develop its operations throughout Europe and to support the expansion into Poland, Cezary Mroczek has been appointed as Sales Manager for the Polish territory. Cezary is responsible for expanding the presence of Loma in Poland and will be building on Loma's established reputation as a global supplier and manufacturer of quality end of line inspection equipment. As well as establishing co-operation with existing OEM partners in Poland, Cezary is offering customers a dedicated before and after sales service and developing the sales strategy for the territory. |
|
||||
With
extensive previous experience working with control and measurement technology
for large multi-national technology companies, Cezary has the knowledge,
contacts and sales experience to significantly enhance sales of the
Loma range of inspection systems into Poland. Cezary commented: "We have an excellent reputation, with a commitment to growth in Eastern Europe and to ongoing research and development in the inspection technology market. Current food industry trends and product safety legislation in Poland means that there is an increasing requirement for end of line inspection equipment. "Loma's products offer the Polish market a range of robust and reliable inspection solutions for a wide variety of applications. Their new IQ3 metal detector for example, leads the field in sensitivity, stability and reliability. As a true multi-frequency machine, the IQ3 has the ability to select the 'correct' operating frequency in seconds. Loma can also offer a range of advanced X-ray systems which are capable of detecting a wide range of contaminants in addition to metal. "I am enjoying the opportunity to establish and increase Loma's presence in the Polish market. I am excited to be working for such an established company and by the challenge of being Loma's first direct Sales Manager for the Polish territory." |
