1) Why does a metal detector, on certain products, require frequent calibration / learn procedures?
These procedures are normally associated with what is termed wet / moist / reactive products.
These particular products can have a varying moisture / ingredient content which will create a different product effect to the original calibration.
To maintain the metal sensitivity specification a fresh calibration / learn procedure might be required to allow for this change and compensate for the change in product effect. |
2) What is the difference between wet and dry products?
Products, which are described as, dry would not normally have any product effect and therefore would only require calibrating on a commissioning visit or a service.
Wet / moist / reactive products do have product effect which would have to be compensated for, to allow the best possible metal specification to be obtained.
The size of metal to be detected is determined by the amount of product effect caused by the product.
Dry products having the best possible metal specifications.
|
3) Why is it on occasions the metal detector will not detect the required size of metal normally non-ferrous or stainless steel?
If the metal size to be detected is small and the product is wet/ reactive, it's possible the product effect is creating an amount of interference as the metal test sample. A fresh calibration might resolve this, or on a longer term, a more realistic metal size determined.
|
4) Why does the metal detector reject more than one pack on occasions?
This is usually associated with the product packs being to close together.
Try to avoid having two packs within the search head at the same time.
A product registration photocell can minimise this effect.
|
5) Are conformance certificates available for test samples?
Conformance certificates are not available for individual test samples but a Quality document is available on request covering the manufacture of all test samples.
|
6) Is it possible to use one programme for all products?
Yes, provided the product is similar. All dry products can normally use one programme.
Reactive / moist / wet products can also use one programme provided the products are of a similar type and size.
|
|
7) Machine is not picking up metal contaminants.
Check set up from last known good set up (last calibration cert).
Try re-calibrate with current product.
Adjust threshold to slightly above largest signal of good product.
|
8) Machine has lots of rejects (suspected false rejects).
ARE THEY FALSE REJECTS. HAVE YOU VERY SMALL CONTAMINANTS
Has product changed? Defrosted, heated up, spicier or totally different product.
Check set up from last known good set up (last calibration cert).
Try re-calibrate with current product.
Is the belt clean? Check belt with no product running for large signals, either clean or change belt.
|
9) Machine will not pick up one of the three test pieces.
Check set up from last known good set up (last calibration cert).
Try re-calibrate with current product.
Change phase or compensation value and test again.
Using correct search head, not a Ferrous head?
Specification too small for this application?
|
10) Belt keeps stopping after rejecting pack.
Is reject confirmation set up correctly, look in fault logs for failsafe occurrences.
Is rejected product actually being rejected into the bin? Check timings.
|
11) Belts will not run.
Look in fault logs for failsafe occurrences. Check for low air or bin full.
|
| Model Sentry |
12) System shows 'Reject Confirm Fault'
The reject mechanism is operating too slowly, or has failed
a) check and adjust Reject Confirm timing parameter
|
13) System shows 'Reject Bin Full'
a) check and empty reject bin
b) clean reflector (if fitted)
|
|
14) System shows metal when passing good product
a) carry out Learn process with good product
b) adjust Threshold so that test pieces are detected, but product is allowed through
|
15) The system will not learn the product
a) check that product effect on data screen increases by more than double, when product passes
b) check and adjust Pack Threshold
|
16) The Threshold adjusts itself, without operator input
Tracking will be set to 'Auto'. Set to another option. Typical setting is 'On'.
|
17) There was an error message but I can`t remember.
Go to: FUNCTION / DIAGNOSTIC / LOG / DATE
There you can find the last 500 events inclusive
all error messages.
|
18) How can I make a backup / restore of all settings and data?
Go to: FUNCTION / SYSTEM SET. / SERVICE SET.
With System Backup you can save all your data and
with System Restore you can recall all your data.
The required password is : 623 523
|
19) How can I check the head balance of my Metal Detector?
Go to : FUNCTION / DIAGNOSTIC / head balance ( last line )
Percentage should be around 40% or below, if it is above 70%
machine becomes unstable and a new head balance should be
performed by a Loma engineer.
If the value is above 100% you will get an error message.
|
| Pipeline |
20) Pump stops. Pressure fault
ARV is mounted wrong, so pressure builts up.
|
|
24) Inconsistent weights reported for same pack?
Check belt speeds.
Check pack size.
Check for vibration on weighing platform.
Recalibrate or dynamic trim product.
|
25) Will not reject or rejects all packs weighing between T1 and T2?
Is mean control turned on.
Have enough good packs passed to allow the 2.5% of T1 packs to be rejected.
|
|
26) Checkweigher keeps reporting packs too close or fell off?
Check belt speeds.
Check weigh platform length not corrupt.
Check pack size.
Check pack spacing.
|
27) Belt keeps stopping after rejecting pack?
Is reject confirmation set up correctly, look in fault logs for failsafe occurrences.
Is rejected product actually being rejected into the bin? Check timings.
|
28) Belts will not run?
Look in fault logs for failsafe occurrences.
Check for low air or bin full.
Check inverter settings or green light for run mode.
|
| Cintex CS-4000 |
29) How can I check the main functions of my CS-4000?
Go to: MODE / DIAGNOSTIC / TRACKING / TRIGGER
There you can see: the two photo cells on the weigh table
( green + red bar ), the weighing trace, the measured belt
speed, the measured pack length and the weight.
|
30) I cannot start the belts / message „ static calibration required „
The LCU ( blue unit ) has lost calibration data because of bad
battery. Switch off machine, remove battery, wait 5 minutes,
insert battery, switch on, perform a static calibration – belts
should run again. Replace battery asap with a new one.
